Why should I use SmartInsurance?

Well first things first – It’s absolutely free! So essentially, you’re only risking a couple of minutes as a trade-off to save a decent amount of cash. Worth it no?

But if that’s not reason enough, you may like to know that SmartInsurance is the only service provider that can give you quotes from almost every insurer within minutes; and on top of that we also allow you to customize plans to suit your needs – so you pay for what you need, and not what is forced upon you! Is SmartInsurance an agent/broker?

Absolutely not. And that’s precisely why our opinions & advice remain completely impartial. All SmartInsurance product specialists are licensed to conduct general insurance business in Singapore but are not associated with any particular insurer(s).

SmartInsurance simply links you up to the right insurer/agent who then proceeds to formalize your purchase. This saves you the trouble of approaching multiple agents and completing multiple forms just to get a variety of quotes, and it saves agents the trouble of having to source for quotes for you (which can be a time-consuming affair!). So with SmartInsurance, you make the smarter choice of zero-ing in to the exact agent that carries the product that is most suitable for you.

Is it safe to purchase my insurance through SmartInsurance?

It’s in fact safer to make your purchase through SmartInsurance than anywhere else! We keep our service levels consistently in check and we’re extremely meticulous when ensuring the agent who’s servicing you is doing his/her job well! So with SmartInsurance, you get that extra layer of security – for free!

Who do I make my payment to?

All payments are made directly to the Insurance companies that you’ll be purchasing your insurance policy from. Even when transacting with an agent, fees are payable directly to the insurers and not the agent.

Typically most people prefer to pay by credit card but even if you’d like to pay by a cheque instead, always ensure that the cheque is made payable directly to the insurer.

Why can’t I get instant quotes between 8pm to 8am?

Due to the sensitive nature of our services, our web systems go through a daily technical maintenance so as to ensure that the following day we can continue to accurately provide you insurance quotes, in the shortest time possible.

Between 8pm to 8am however, you may request for a quote as per normal and they will be delivered to you first thing the following day!

Why was my quotes request rejected?

Insurers can reject to quote for a variety of reasons. You were probably unable to get a quote through us due to one of the following reasons:

  • Young Driver (21 years old and below)
  • Inexprienced driver (less than 2 years driving experience)
  • High number of claims
  • High claim amount
  • High performance car model

Why are so many insurers’ prices unavailable for my car?

Each insurer has its own criteria of assessing who they wish to insure and who they don’t. Some could have stricter guidelines than the others; and these guidelines also tend to change from time to time.

Most commonly, insurers tend to not provide quotes for high performance/sports cars, young & inexperienced drivers and car owners with claim histories.

Why is there such a big difference in price between some plans. Is there a catch?

Well if there was a catch, be rest assured we’d tell you about it! Plans differ in terms of their coverage and benefits. However, it is also not uncommon to find a plan the offers better coverage and benefits to be lower in price than a very basic plan. This occurs because each Insurer calculates their risk value differently – and what may be deemed high risk to one insurer may be considered a moderate or low risk to another. Hence, such price differences occur.

Why is there a quota limit to requesting for quotes?

This is mainly to protect our web system from spammers and other forms of abuse. We limit the number of quotes requests to a specific number that we feel is reasonable enough not to affect the general car owner population.

What are Bonus Vouchers?

Bonus vouchers are our way of saying Thank You! As an added benefit for purchasing your car insurance through SmartInsurance, we’ve arranged for some special discounts for you with several merchants that further assist you to save automotive related costs!

So not only do you shave dollars off your car insurance premiums, you end up saving quite a bit more when you take all those discounts into account! That’s what being Smart is all about isn’t it!

How and when do I receive my policy documents?

In most cases, your policy documents are mailed to your residence directly by the respective insurers you’ve purchased your insurance plan from 4 – 6 weeks after you’ve received your cover note. Some insurers however immediately provide you a soft copy of your insurance policy. You may then print them out if you should wish to do so.

A soft copy of your cover note (ie. the paper you need to be able to renew your road tax) is typically sent to you within one working day after you’ve submitted your completed proposal form to the respective agent.

When do I receive my bonus vouchers?

Your bonus vouchers will typically arrive about the same time your insurance policy documents do.
